Jacob R. Florsheim
Patent Engineer
Jacob Florsheim brings a global perspective to helping Foley & Lardner’s innovative clients develop and protect their technological advances.
While pursuing his degree, Jacob was an electrical engineering intern with a pioneering international company working to produce clean energy from ocean and sea waves. His contributions included assisting in the design, coding, and implementation of the automation and SCADA systems for the company’s power station in Tel Aviv, Israel, gaining a unique understanding of sustainable energy sources and their global importance.
Jacob continued his interest in electric power systems throughout his undergraduate studies. He engaged in a project applying LMP-based energy arbitrage methods to residential and commercial buildings. Through linear optimization techniques such as designing and coding JuMP models using Julia, Jacob optimized a charge and discharge schedule for a battery storage system to minimize overall costs of providing power to buildings.
