Foley & Lardner LLP is pleased to announce that Edward D. (“Ed”) Burbach has been named managing partner of the firm’s Austin office. Burbach also serves as chair of Foley’s Government Solutions Practice Group, co-chair of the firm’s State Attorneys General Practice Group, and Corporate Law Chair for the Austin office.
Burbach assumes the office managing partner role after the recent passing of Kim Yelkin, who opened the Austin office in 2002 and served in the position for the last 20 years.
“Ed has consistently demonstrated a strong aptitude for leadership across a variety of roles,” said Daljit Doogal, Foley chairman and CEO. “As we grieve the loss of our friend and colleague Kim Yelkin, I am confident that her remarkable legacy of advocacy, collaboration, and stewardship is in good hands. Ed’s deep familiarity with the community and commitment to Foley’s core values will ensure Foley’s Austin office is well-positioned to continue thriving.”
As office managing partner, Burbach will focus on strategically growing the Austin office, expanding Foley’s presence in the local market, and continuing to steward community involvement.
“Kim was an inspirational leader and tireless champion of the firm who made the Austin office what it is today,” said Burbach. “I am humbled and honored to expand on the strong foundation and rich culture she built. As Austin continues to grow and the intersection between business and government deepens, I look forward to increasing Foley’s local bench strength and helping clients understand how the government intersects with key sectors and, ultimately, impacts their business.”
Foley’s Austin office is home to the leading government solutions team in Texas, with a wealth of experience navigating the legislative process, all branches of government, state and local agencies, and their complex regulatory compliance standards. In addition to serving clients’ government solutions needs, litigation, corporate, and regulatory attorneys regularly counsel clients in insurance, intellectual property, technology, energy, entertainment, public utility, public pension, health care, real estate, retail and transportation industries.
