Nathaniel Lacktman Quoted on Telemedicine Startups Regulations
Foley & Lardner LLP Partner and Chair of the firm’s Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team Nathaniel Lacktman was quoted in The Wall Street Journal article, “Telemedicine Startups Face Uncertain Regulatory Terrain,” about the complicated array of state regulations that telemedicine startups must overcome as they seek to expand their services nationwide.
During the pandemic, many states enacted temporary waivers of restrictions on telemedicine, including a requirement that doctors be licensed in their state to provide virtual care. Now, some states are allowing those waivers to expire, while others are maintaining them.
Lacktman said, “For telemedicine companies operating on a multistate basis, the idiosyncrasies of state waivers have resulted in near total confusion.”
