Gardere Recognized by Houston Business Journal for Commitment to Philanthropy
Gardere has been included in the Houston Business Journal’s inaugural list of the top businesses for philanthropic contributions in Houston. The list, which is divided into two sections – hours donated and financial contributions to the United Way of Houston – recognizes Gardere as one of the top 10 midsize companies for hours donated, with 915 community service hours last year.
“Because of our unique position as lawyers, we are able to provide legal assistance to the community where other non-licensed professionals cannot. Because of this ability, many of our lawyers participate in the Houston Bar Association’s LegalLine, a hotline is designed to help the people of Houston receive simple legal advice, answers to legal questions and referrals to helpful resources over the phone at no cost to the caller,” commented Gardere CEO Claude R. Treece. Following Hurricane Harvey, “the firm partnered with the Houston Volunteer Lawyers to provide a legal clinic in an area of Houston severely impacted by the storm where free legal advice was offered to those in the community.”
