Of Counsel Mark Neuberger discussed in an SHRM.org article, “Automation and Amazon: How They Could Affect the Grocery Business,” what Amazon’s recent acquisition of Whole Foods Market means for organized labor in the grocery business. Amazon is well-known for work force automation, and some industry observers have wondered whether that could lead to more unionization efforts and potential layoffs at Whole Foods.
“Increased automation may also lead to less employees under one roof and dispersion of those employees, which would also make it more difficult to organize,” Neuberger said.
