The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association (DMBA) Barristers Section has selected Foley attorney Vanessa L. Miller as the recipient of its annual DMBA Barristers 2012 “One to Watch” award. This distinct honor is presented to up-and-coming Detroit area attorneys in recognition of their significant professional accomplishments to date, as well as their potential for future outstanding achievements within the legal field.
Miller, Senior Counsel in Foley’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice, has secured an impressive record of significant early career achievements. She has earned a reputation as a resource for commercial litigation matters involving large discovery challenges, and has been lead discovery counsel on several cases that each involved more than one million pages of documents. In addition, Miller exhibited effective case management skills as second chair of a high-stakes JAMS arbitration, where she handled all discovery issues and supervised a team of associates on discovery efforts that spanned three continents.
Active in pro bono matters that utilize her skills as a litigator, Miller has volunteered her time to coordinate investigations of multiple requests for assistance in claims of innocence that were submitted to the Michigan Innocence Clinic at the University of Michigan Law School. She also helped to expunge the arrest record of a Foley pro bono client, providing the client with a clean record that helped her secure employment.
