Lakeland District U.S. Postal Service Recognizes Havlik for Volunteerism
Kristine (Kris) Havlik, senior counsel at Foley, has been selected as a 2012 “Women Putting Their Stamp on Metro Milwaukee” award recipient in the Volunteerism category by the Lakeland District of the U.S. Postal Service. These honorable awards recognize individuals of Milwaukee area communities who have helped improve the quality of life for all citizens.
Committed to community betterment, Havlik selflessly gives back in a multitude of ways. For example, she was instrumental in launching Wills for Heroes in Wisconsin, a volunteer program that to-date has provided free estate planning to more than 1,000 emergency first responders. As an active member and former president of The Women’s Center board of directors, Havlik has also contributed countless hours of leadership and counsel to this organization dedicated to supporting victims of domestic and sexual abuse. In addition, she serves the area Children’s Hospital as a member of its Planned Giving board and is actively involved in the Milwaukee Estate Planning Forum, Partnership for Philanthropic Planning of Eastern Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association.
In addition to this award, her dedication to helping others has been recognized with the Milwaukee Bar Association Pro Bono Publico individual award for her Wills for Heroes work and the Gordon Sinykin Award of Excellence for her law-related public service and education contributions.
