Some Simple Rules for Investing in Oil and Gas Private Placements

Foley Partner Stephen Burr authored an article that appeared in the September 2010 issue of the Oil & Gas Financial Journal titled “Some simple rules for investing in oil and gas private placements.” Burr provides an overview of oil and gas private placements for accredited investors who are new to the industry. He discusses the various types of investment offerings available, as well as the advantages and risks common to oil and gas investments. Burr states that investment programs based on upstream oil and gas assets should return to favor with individual accredited investors, adding that risk can be significantly reduced by adhering to a short list of simple investment guidelines.
