Foley Partner Nathaniel Lacktman, Chair of the firm’s national Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team, will be a speaker at the 2019 Convergence Telehealth Summit, hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center (MATRC) on March 31 – April 2, 2019 in Williamsburg, Virginia. He will give two panel presentations at the Summit:

Some clinical scenarios are pretty straight-forward, but others are not. Add telehealth into the mix, and even the seemingly straight-forward ones can become orders of magnitude more complicated. Are you adding a new service line or exploring a way to improve patient care through the use of telehealth technologies, but are stymied about billing and coding or concerned about compliance? If so, this session is for you. This highly interactive session will allow participants to discuss challenges, share successes and learn from a panel of experienced professionals and from one another.

A Look at the Changing Telehealth Policy Environment in 2019 and Beyond
This past year has brought an intensification of divisions between political parties and values. Telehealth has been one of a few areas where there has been bi-partisan support. This has resulted in a frenzy of legal and regulatory activity, at both the federal and state levels. Attendees will review the changes that have taken place over the past year and look ahead to anticipated changes for 2020. A special focus will be on the implications of these changes on rural and underserved populations and communities. Mr. Lacktman will be joined by Alan Morgan, MPA, CEO, National Rural Health Association.
The Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center is one of the Telehealth Resource Centers (TRCs) funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Office for the Advancement of Telehealth, which is part of the Office of Rural Health Policy. Nationally, there are 14 TRCs. This includes 12 Regional Centers, all with different strengths and regional expertise, and two National Centers, one focusing on technology assessment and one on telehealth policy. MATRC’s mission is to provide technical assistance and other resources within the mid-Atlantic states in order to advance the adoption and utilization of telehealth within the region; and to work collaboratively with the other federally funded Telehealth Resource Centers to accomplish the same nationally.
