Foley & Lardner Partners Larry Vernaglia & Judith Waltz will both be presenting at AHLA Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues, a program that focuses on the legal issues related to reimbursement.
Ms. Waltz will be presenting on “Enforcement Risks for Common Compliance Failure” at 3:35pm on Wednesday, March 20th, with a repeat session on Thursday, March 21st at 2:55pm. She will be joined by Julie Burns (Office of the General Counsel, US Department of Health and Human Services) and Srishti Sheffner (Senior Counsel, Office of the Inspector General, US Department of Health and Human Services). Their discussion will focus on CMS’ data analytics, Medicare billing privileges revocations and denials, payment suspensions, and Medicaid Enforcement CMS led efforts, reciprocal terminations, and enrollment actions.
Mr. Vernaglia will present on “Provider-Based Status, Under Arrangements, Enrollment, and Related Medicare Requirements” at 1:45pm on Wednesday, March 20th, with a repeat session at 4:15pm on Thursday, March 21st. He is joined by Program Planning Chair Andrew Ruskin (Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP) and David Wright (Deputy Regional Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services). Their discussion will focus on fundamentals of Medicare provider-based status, the recent changes to payment for services in excepted and non-excepted provider-based clinics, strategies to maintain full Medicare reimbursement for outpatient departments, and litigation surrounding CMS’s actions and site neutrality.
