Michael D. Regenfuss is a retired senior partner in the firm’s Finance & Financial Institutions Practice where he specialized in complex financing and commercial transactions, both tax-exempt and taxable.
Michael acted as counsel to borrowers, lenders and credit enhancers in connection with a variety of public and privately placed debt issues, including multi-bank and syndicated commercial loan transactions and secured and unsecured senior, subordinate and mezzanine financings in such diverse industries as cable television, broadcast television, higher education, manufacturing, pulp and paper production, electric power generation, healthcare and financial institutions.
Michael also acted as bond counsel and counsel to borrowers, lenders, and other participants in a variety of tax-exempt industrial development bond and project financings for manufacturing, healthcare, higher education, multifamily and senior housing, pollution control, solid-waste disposal, resource recovery and similar facilities.
In recognition of his achievements, Michael was Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell’s peer review rating system.
A native of Superior, Wisconsin, Michael graduated at the top of his class in aeronautical engineering from the University of Minnesota, where he was awarded an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship as one of the nation’s five outstanding university division scholar-athletes (basketball). Michael earned a Master of Science degree from the California Institute of Technology and graduated with honors from Yale Law School in 1974.
Michael is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the American, Wisconsin and Milwaukee Bar Associations and a variety of professional and community organizations.
