Foley & Lardner LLP and BNY Mellon Wealth Management held an informal, interactive panel focused on “The Emergence: Growing Your Company.” This was the second session in our four-part series, The Life Cycle of the Entrepreneur in Today’s Economy.
The seminar is designed to help business owners, executives, and professionals discover new ways to build profitability in today’s economy.
Topics for this session included:
- How do you obtain equity financing? How do you sell your story, and what terms and pricing should you expect? When should you obtain debt financing?
- How do you build your management team? Who should be on the team, and how should you compensate them? How much control should you give the team?
- How do you get outsiders involved on your board, and when?
- How do you get your product to market and build a brand?
- How do you build your company and still incorporate your personal goals and values?
These topics were addressed by Paul Flanagan, Managing Director with Sigma Partners, Kevin Laracey, Venture Partner with Sigma Partners and founder of eDocs, and Cory Schauer, J.D., LLM, Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager of BNY Mellon Wealth Management. Joining them will be Beth J. Felder, Foley Partner and member of the firm’s Private Equity & Venture Capital and Transactional & Securities practices and Emerging Technologies Industry Team.
Each session in the series will explore a different phase in the life cycle of the entrepreneurial company, from starting and growing your company, to expansion through acquisitions and alliances, to exit strategies including sales, recaps, and reverse mergers as well as post-exit planning for wealth management and personal fulfillment. Foley attorneys, BNY Mellon Wealth Management experts, experienced entrepreneurs, and members of the investment community will share a variety of strategic perspectives on these topics.
