Partner Samuel J. (Sandy) Winer will participate in the Internal Investigations 2008: Legal, Ethical & Strategic Issues conference hosted by the Practising Law Institute (PLI) on Ethical Issues on June 10, 2008, in New York.
This conference will focus on the legal and ethical issues that arise in internal investigations. The faculty will consider the perspectives of top government regulators from the DOJ, SEC and state AG’s offices, chief in-house counsel, leading private practitioners and forensic experts. Further, the program will offer practical advice on how to counsel your clients or your company facing an internal investigation, and it will offer a two-hour ethics session.
Winer’s session titled, “Ethical Issues in Internal Investigations” will take place at 2:30 p.m. He and his panel will address the following topics:
- Warnings to witnesses
- Representational issues
- The rights of employees
- Avoiding obstruction
- Sharing information with employees
- Indemnification and advancement
- Mock demonstration: learn from a real-world example of these important issues
