Foley Partners Scott Ellis and Rhonda Weiner, members of the firm’s Energy Industry Team, will be giving a CLE presentation to the ACC Houston Energy Practice Group. Their presentation, titled “Recent Developments in Lease Drafting/Interpretation & How to Motivate Customers to Pay Your Invoices,” will focus on the struggle between operators and royalty owners over cost and the power of the Texas mineral lien statute in encouraging prompt payment of outstanding invoices.

New Mexico Becomes Third State in the U.S. to Legalize Access to Psilocybin
On April 7, 2025, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed into law SB-219, the Medical Psilocybin Act (the Act), making New Mexico the third state in the country to create a legal pathway for patients to access psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic compound produced by certain types of mushrooms.
