Foley Announces Updated Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategic Plan Driven by Advanced Data Analytics
Today, Foley & Lardner LLP announced its updated five-year Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Strategic Plan. The strategy is driven by a powerful and innovative data analytics tool that marries the firm’s human resources and finance data, allowing the firm to accurately and instantly assess progress on key diversity metrics.
“Foley’s people are our greatest asset, and our updated DEI strategy and data analytics tool will help ensure that everyone receives equitable opportunities for development and advancement,” said Daljit Doogal, Foley Chairman and CEO. “I’m pleased to see the firm embracing technology and innovation to further our DEI efforts and help achieve our vision of one team committed to being leading, strategic partners to our clients.”
With this advanced level of current and historical data collection, Foley can review DEI metrics holistically and more granularly by department, practice group, and office-level. This in-depth analysis is complemented with user-friendly visualizations that delve into talent retention, utilization, work allocation, and more by diversity demographic category across the firm. Furthermore, these bespoke insights will in turn be leveraged through tailored solutions in Foley’s recruitment, development, retention, and promotion efforts, as well as in client relationships.
“We must better understand the nuanced experiences of the many people who fall under the umbrella term ‘diverse,’ and truly acknowledge what works well and what requires improvement,” said Director of Diversity & Inclusion Alexis Robertson. “The adoption of sophisticated data analytics is a key next step in our DEI journey at Foley, and we are committed to quickly identifying areas for improvement, adopting solutions, testing, and driving forward continued progress.”
The updated plan, which dovetails with Foley’s broader talent management efforts, focuses on five objectives that build on the firm’s past successes, align with the firm’s strategic plan, and reflect the firm’s integrated talent approach. An update and extension of Foley’s previous DEI Strategic Plan, the five-year plan is based on the following pillars: (1) Recruitment, (2) Development, (3) Promotion, (4) Client Engagement & Collaboration, (5) Education.
