- The viability of pediatric hospitals partnering with other systems or participating on their own. Are there different strategies for system-owned versus independent children’s hospitals?
- Healthcare delivery and reimbursement systems that support accountable care models, including a medical home and FQHC alignment.

Serving the pediatric population remains one of the most complex challenges in health care delivery. Children’s hospitals, pediatric programs, and physicians face economic uncertainties as the legal/regulatory landscape changes and healthcare payment and care delivery reforms begin to take shape. While a great deal of attention has been paid to Medicare and the Medicare ACO effort, equally important is the application of the Triple Aim principles to Medicaid programs which impact the pediatric provider community. In many markets, commercial insurers are pursuing reform initiatives that are consistent with Medicare and Medicaid approaches. The Pediatric Business and Healthcare Delivery Series explores the most important business and structural challenges to pediatric healthcare delivery, as well as the complex, and often undiscussed, efforts made by pediatric providers and payors.
