HCCA's 16th Annual Compliance Institute

Ms. Sorensen will be presenting with Thomas J. Cuccia of the University of Maryland Medical System on May 1, 2012. They will discuss: “How to Avoid Unintended Consequences of CMS Enhancement of Medicare Enrollment Requirements.”

Ms. Waltz will be presenting with Roger Goldman of Latham & Watkins LLP and Daniel J. Anderson of the US Department of Justice on May 2, 2012. They will discuss: “Negotiating False Claims Act Settlements and Corporate Integrity Agreements.”

Both Mr. Lacktman and Mr. Rifenbark will be speaking on, “Four of a Kind: Perspectives on Quality of Care from Four Aces.” Joining them in the presentation will be Nalini Pande, Principal Policy Director at the American Institutes for Research, and Maureen Broms, Vice President of Health Care Quality and Patient Safety at New England Baptist Hospital.

Compliance personnel, quality leaders, executives and legal counsel need practical ways to understand and apply the various aspects related to the renewed focus on quality of care. Whether the emphasis targets reimbursement, peer ratings, public reporting, ACOs or False Claims Act enforcement, institutions, providers and suppliers all can benefit from learning ways to implement and operationalize quality of care initiatives in their own organizations. The presentation will address quality of care from several different perspectives, all tied together through the lens of a compliance-oriented ethos: the hospital compliance officer in charge of quality efforts; the policymaker on quality of care initiatives and reimbursement; and the outside legal counsel on quality of care business arrangements and False Claims Act enforcement.
