2017 US-Mexico Bar Association Conference
Charles E. Meacham, former U.S. partner in charge of Gardere’s Mexico City office, will moderate a panel discussion on immigration issues impacting businesses and families at the U.S.-Mexico Bar Association’s annual conference in San Diego Sept. 27. Meacham opened the Gardere office in Mexico City in 1992 and was the resident U.S. partner in charge until his return to Texas in 1996.
This panel discussion will feature perspectives from attorneys at various Texas and international firms, and will cover investor visas, employee transfers, employer immigration issues, family immigration and immigration reform. Topics discussed will include H1B visas, the DACA and Sen. Tom Cotton’s immigration bill.
Meacham, a bilingual and bicultural international law specialist born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, advises clients on cross-border projects throughout the Americas. Co-chair of Gardere’s international practice group, he regularly advises clients doing business or seeking to do business in Mexico and Latin America on how to structure investments and projects, including cross-border joint ventures, public bids for infrastructure projects, acquisitions and divestitures, international contracting matters and FCPA compliance.
