Midwest Cyber Security Alliance Meeting: Compliance with the NIST SP 800-171 Security Framework: DoD Contractors and Beyond
Join us at the next Midwest Cyber Security Alliance , which will offer practical tips on complying with NIST Special Publication 800-171, Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems and Organizations, and NIST Special Publication 800-171A, Assessing Security Requirements for Controlled Unclassified Information. This security framework is relevant to organizations contracting with the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as other government contractors, due to the expected revisions to the FAR that will require all government contractors to comply with NIST SP 800-171 going forward.
Don’t contract with the federal government? This presentation is still relevant to you, as NIST SP 800-171 is quickly becoming a cybersecurity best practice baseline. In addition, many vendor management programs require compliance with NIST SP 800-171, even when not contracting with the federal government.
We will also discuss the definition and scope of covered defense information (CDI) and controlled unclassified information (CUI), as well as the requirements of DFARS Clause 252.204-7012, Safeguarding Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting, including the broad requirements for reporting cyber incidents.
