Thomas (T.J.) Ferrante, a Partner in the firm’s Telemedicine Industry Team and Digital Health Group will give a presentation at the U.S. Virgin Islands Digital Health Summit 2022 held July 25 – 27 in St. Thomas. The presentation is titled: “U.S. Federal and State Telehealth Law & Policy: 2022 and Beyond.”
While the past year quickly revealed how telehealth can improve health outcomes and offer new access points to care, the rapid adoption also showed that many state regulatory and reimbursement frameworks were outdated, inconsistent, or needed improvement to increase access to telehealth. This presentation will focus on Federal and state-level telehealth laws and policy trends, covering issues such as coverage and reimbursement rules, state telemedicine practice standards, internet prescribing laws, and efforts towards interstate licensure portability/reciprocity. During this session Mr. Ferrante will offer perspectives on which policy approaches will be most effective at advancing telemedicine; and what changes states are likely to address in the coming year.
