Foley Partner Russell Beck and Senior Counsel Matthew Karlyn authored an article that appeared on CIO on November 11, 2009 titled “IT Security: A Practical Approach to Protecting Trade Secrets.” The authors discuss the ways that IT professionals and company counsel can work together to maximize the establishment and implementation of trade secret protection programs, stating that practical and legal considerations are critical when developing a realistic data protection program. They add that it is imperative that companies involve not only IT organizations in the development of these programs, but also other key stakeholders in the business, including human resources, finance and legal.
