Foley Welcomed Patrick Krill to Discuss Mental Health and Well-Being in the Age of Coronavirus and Beyond
Since becoming a signatory to the ABA’s Well-Being Pledge, Foley has worked to enhance its focus on mental health. The pandemic and other events of the last six months have created a number of challenges, not the least of which are heightened concerns around mental health. Depression, anxiety and addiction are real issues for far too many people in the legal profession – and there is a clear need for us to respond in a more proactive manner, especially now.
As part of the firm’s Best Self well-being initiative, Foley recently welcomed Patrick Krill, an attorney, licensed and board-certified alcohol and drug counselor, author, advocate, researcher, and leading authority on addiction, mental health and well-being in the legal profession, to speak to all Foley attorneys and professional staff on “Mental Health and Well-Being in the Age of Coronavirus and Beyond.” During his presentation, Patrick shared the more common behavioral health challenges faced by those in our profession and during these unprecedented times, including warning signs and how to identify when you or a colleague may be struggling. He also discussed what can be done to prevent and address behavioral health problems, help ourselves and others who are struggling or at risk, and improve the overall well-being of all Foley team members by offering specific suggestions for maintaining one’s well-being during these challenging times.
We thank Patrick for his insights and advice on this incredibly important topic. To learn more about Patrick and his work on mental health in the legal profession, please visit his website.
