Foley & Lardner continues to build a national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) to support its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. All 22 of the firm’s U.S. offices have engaged with local Clubs on programs and initiatives that are responsive to the Clubs’ needs in that community — with a focus on activating the potential of kids and building more inclusive and equitable futures.
As part of our partnership, Foley’s Veterans & Allies Affinity Group was proud to be part of BGCA’s National Military Youth of the Year (MYOY) program held August 2-3 in Washington, D.C. This prestigious program celebrates young people, ages 14 to 18, for their commitment to community service, academic success, good character, and citizenship, and for establishing long-term goals.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of MYOY, Foley’s Washington, D.C. office hosted a reception on our outdoor patio for youth nominated for the MYOY award and other esteemed military and BGCA guests. Foley Veterans & Allies Affinity Group chair Patrick McMahon and BGCA VP of Military & Outreach Services Dianely Heredia welcomed the 75 attendees, who enjoyed the evening socializing and connecting with each other.
The following night, we had the honor of attending the MYOY gala, where this year’s five finalists for the award delivered powerful speeches, and previous winners and military service members also addressed attendees. It was an incredibly moving event, and by its conclusion there was not a dry eye in the house.
Foley Veterans & Allies Affinity Group members who attended the event were senior chair Taylor Pancake, chair Patrick McMahon, co-chair Kel Thomas, Bobby Brown, Justin Cajero, Alexa Goldstein, Doug Lightfoot, and Eugene Krakow.
