We are pleased to announce that Foley’s Miami office was honored by the Dade County Bar Association (DCBA) with its outstanding firm of the year award for pro bono service provided to the Dade County community. The award was presented at the DCBA’s annual recognition luncheon on May 19, 2009, in Miami.
The firm was recognized by the DCBA based on the pro bono services performed by Miami office attorneys and paralegals for work on behalf of various charitable organizations. Among the groups Foley has provided pro bono services for are the Foundation for New Educations Initiatives, which raises money for unfunded programs of the Dade County Public Schools, and Tiger Tail Productions, a group which produces provocative projects in the performing, literary and visual arts.
Additional pro bono activities performed by the Miami Office for the Dade County community include:
- Conducting legal clinics to help survivors of the Nazi holocaust apply for a special benefits program from the German government to pay them for services while held as prisoners in urban ghettos
- Staffing Legal Lines, a phone-in help clinic run by the Put Something Back project of the DCBA
- Handling a number of visa issues for employees of charitable organizations as well as persons with special artistic talents
It’s important to note that every attorney and paralegal in Foley’s Miami office has engaged in some type of pro bono work. At Foley, we are dedicated to taking a leading role in providing every person and organization — regardless of financial means — access to the justice system.
