Foley Partner Michael Van Sicklen was named litigator of the week in an article that appeared in The Am Law Litigation Daily on January 27, 2011. In the article Van Sicklen discusses Foley’s successful efforts to structure and win confirmation of Ambac Assurance’s rehabilitation plan, stating that the ruling stabilizes a fluid situation which will allow Ambac to protect its policyholders. He adds that the insurance commissioner’s office is very pleased with the court’s approval of the plan, noting that the ruling is important for the commissioner because it will prevent some of the systemic risk faced in the reorganization of Ambac.
