Foley’s Chicago office was recognized as a “top law firm” for diversity inclusiveness and equality by Equality Illinois, the state’s leading LGBT rights organization. This is the third year in a row Foley has received the state-wide acknowledgment, which is based on the results of the annual Law Firm Survey.
The firm’s diversity efforts include the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Allies (LGBTA) Affinity Group, which is open to all attorneys and staff, and addresses issues of equality in the legal profession; sponsoring the Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair where Foley attorneys meet and discuss career opportunities and advice with LGBT law students; and the firm’s Diversity Fellowship Program, which provides financial support to second-year law students who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
“Foley embraces a culture of inclusion and diversity and recognizes the importance of being involved within our communities,” said Eileen Ridley, the firm’s chief diversity partner. “We encourage our firm members to actively and meaningfully participate and believe that by embracing and supporting our diverse firm members and communities, we improve as a firm.”
The firm will be recognized at the annual “Raising the Bar” event on July 21st at the Intercontinental Hotel. In addition, Foley is sponsoring admission for two local LGBT law school students to the event.
