Bloomberg BNA Quotes Gardere Labor and Employment Co-Chair Carrie Hoffman in Equifax Analysis
Gardere partner and co-chair of the labor and employment practice, Carrie Hoffman, spoke with Bloomberg BNA on the recent Equifax data hack and how employers can minimize their risk of an information breach in the future.
According to Hoffman, companies are indeed storing too much unnecessary information. “When I’m counseling an employer, I ask them ‘Why do you need this information?’…The more employers reduce the amount of information they keep, the more they reduce the potential threat of that information being compromised,” Hoffman said.
Hoffman has defended clients throughout the U.S. in major employment litigation at both the federal and state court level, including class and collective actions. She also represents employers in investigations and audits by agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Texas Workforce Commission, the National Labor Relations Board and the Department of Labor.
