Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos Covers Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition
Tchanori Kone, the fifth-grade champion of the Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition in Houston, appeared on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day broadcast of Good Morning America to talk about her victory. Reporter George Stephanopoulos interviewed her live from New York via video feed in Houston. Prior to the GMA appearance, Good Morning America Weekend ran a preview of the segment featuring Tchanori and Dallas winner, Wesley Stoker.
“Fifth-grader Tchanori Kone is one of the winners of the speech contest honoring his legacy, and she is a powerhouse,” commented Stephanopoulos.
At the end of the interview, in response to Stephanopoulos’ question about what she wants to be when she grows up, Tchanori said, “I think I will decide to become an attorney or a comedian.” Stephanopoulos replied, “Well you just proved you can be hired either way!”
“They have a way with words, don’t they?” commented weekend reporter Adrienne Bankert of the two champions.
