01 February 2018
Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Bonnie Galt Sinclair has joined the firm’s Health Care practice as of counsel in the Los Angeles office.
Sinclair has nearly 30 years of experience as a corporate health care lawyer. With a background as both in-house and outside counsel, her practice focuses on various sectors of health law, including board governance and support; corporate compliance and governance; corporate transaction structuring and general contracting; hospital operations involving HIPAA compliance, media relations, marketing and fundraising; and licensure, accreditation and other regulatory issues. She also handles issues related to insurance and risk management, and she has experience overseeing health care litigation and responding to governmental investigations and inquiries.
In addition, Sinclair is a licensed registered nurse and public health nurse. She previously worked as an emergency department nurse, a mobile intensive care nurse and a cardiac intensive care nurse, where she held national certifications in critical care nursing, emergency nursing and advanced cardiac life support. Sinclair also holds an Associate in Risk Management credential issued by the Insurance Institute of America.
“Bonnie’s skill set will add significant depth to our expanding health care practice,” said Larry Vernaglia, chair of Foley’s Health Care practice. “She has an impressive in-house background as associate legal counsel and as a risk manager for a major health system, and as outside counsel for a variety of industry leaders. Pairing this with her experience as a registered nurse gives her an incredibly unique perspective in helping to solve some of our clients’ toughest issues.”
Sinclair’s health care practice also focuses on legal matters involving medical staff governance, peer review, credentialing and disciplinary issues; academic affairs; bioethics and human subjects research; mental health issues; and human resources and personnel issues. She represents an array of health care entities, including hospitals and health systems, community health centers, sleep specialists, diagnostic groups, physicians, medical office practices and pharmacies.
“We’re looking forward to having Bonnie join our growing Los Angeles office,” said Jeff Atkin, managing partner of Foley’s Los Angeles office. “Her strong health care network here and nationally will be instrumental in enhancing our presence in the California health care market, and more importantly, make a significant impact in our clients’ lives.”
Prior to joining Foley, Sinclair was counsel for Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
