Pirozzolo-Mellowes Named to the Board of The Medical College of Wisconsin
Partner Jan Pirozzolo-Mellowes was named to the Board of Trustees of The Medical College of Wisconsin.
Pirozzolo-Mellowes is an intellectual property lawyer, and her work focuses on various industries and technical areas, including software, chemical compositions, medical devices, mechanical devices, DNA sequencing, pharmaceuticals and architectural works.
The MCW Board of Trustees provides strategic direction to support the institution’s four core missions: patient care, education, research, and community engagement. The elected members of the board are business executives, philanthropists, and distinguished community leaders who pool their wealth of knowledge and experience to advance these missions to enhance the health and vitality of our community.
The Medical College of Wisconsin is the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and second largest in Wisconsin. In FY2016, faculty received more than $184 million in external support for research, teaching, training and related purposes. This total includes highly competitive research and training awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Annually, MCW faculty direct or collaborate on more than 3,100 research studies, including clinical trials. Additionally, more than 1,500 physicians provide care in virtually every specialty of medicine for more than 525,000 patients annually.
