Partner Mike Okaty has been re-appointed as chair of the American Bar Association’s Senior Housing and Assisted Living Committee, part of the Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law.
Okaty was first appointed committee chair in 2018 and reappointed last year. His new term begins Sept. 1, 2020 and extends through 2021.
The committee addresses the unique problems of providing housing and related services to seniors. It encompasses the continuing care retirement community, congregate care assisted living facilities and residential aspects of nursing care, including subsidies and other government programs.
Okaty is the founder and former chair of Foley’s Post-Acute Care & Senior Housing Industry Team, which represents operators, payers, investors, lenders, for profit and non profit clients in the industry in a variety of matters including mergers and acquisitions; regulatory approvals; financing; transactional counseling; industry regulatory and compliance matters; and litigation matters.
Okaty is a member of Foley’s Management Committee and serves as the managing partner of the Orlando office.
