Foley Represents Ambassador Theatre Group in Acquisition of Three High-End Theatres
Foley & Lardner LLP served as lead counsel on behalf of Ambassador Theatre Group in its acquisition of three high-end venues, including San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre and Orpheum Theatre and Detroit’s Fisher Theatre – important markets for touring Broadway productions – as well as the theatrical programming operations of the Detroit Opera House and Music Hall in Detroit. Private equity investment firm Providence Equity Partners backed Ambassador Theatre Group in the transaction.
In business for nearly 30 years, the Ambassador Theatre Group owns more than 50 prominent West End theaters, Broadway’s Lyric and Hudson theaters, as well as venues in Germany, Texas, New Orleans, Boston and Brooklyn.
The Foley team was led by partner Michael Rogers and also included partners Gregory Meeks, Gregory Neppl, Pamela Brown, Dorothy Watson, Jeffrey Kopp, James Howard, Gregg Dooge and Chanley Howell, and associates Danielle Osburn and George Khalaf. Foley provided corporate, Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR), real estate, environmental, labor, tax, employee benefits and intellectual property counsel to the Ambassador Theatre Group.
Media coverage of the transaction was vast, spanning outlets such as Variety, Deadline, Yahoo! News, Broadway World and Crain’s Detroit Business, among others.
