Foley is pleased to announce that Chris King has been named the 2021 Volunteer of the Year by LegalCORPS, a nonprofit organization that offers free legal assistance to low-income inventors from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Following Chris’s introduction to LegalCORPS in 2019, he immediately started volunteering under the LegalCORPS Inventor Assistance Program. Over the course of the next two years, Chris served as a champion of this program at Foley and boosted the volunteer roster to 16 Foley attorneys.
Chris continued to pursue ways that Foley could be involved in helping low-income inventors and entrepreneurs. With his influence and support, LegalCORPS established an IP Brief Advice Clinic in partnership with the Milwaukee Public Library and quickly pivoted to offering virtual clinic sessions during the pandemic. In part, through Chris’s involvement and advocacy for more attorney support in Wisconsin, the LegalCORPS Inventor Assistance Program has grown significantly in Wisconsin to represent 25% of LegalCORPS’ patent and intellectual property work.
Chris will be honored at the LegalCORPS annual celebration on February 10, 2022.
