Foley Counsels Community Family Centers in Securing Lease Agreement for Tuition-Free Bezos Academy Preschool
Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that it provided pro bono counsel to Community Family Centers (CFC) in securing a ten-year lease agreement with Bezos Academy to open a tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschool in the Houston area. The Bezos Academy Houston – Magnolia Park preschool will be located in the CFC facility at 7524 Avenue E, Houston, and will feature four classrooms. The school will follow a full-day, year-round schedule, and it will be slated to open in Fall 2022.
CFC is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide community-based social and education services to low-income families in Houston’s Greater East End. Bezos Academy is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a network of tuition-free preschools that offer year-round, full-day programming for children from low-income families, age 3 to 5 years old.
Foley provided pro bono counsel to CFC to help negotiate the ten-year lease agreement between the organization and Bezos Academy. The lease agreement allows CFC to continue its commitment to ensuring access to preschool to children in Houston’s Greater East End, with the new Bezos Academy Houston – Magnolia Park preschool offering four classrooms with full-day, year-round scheduling.
Foley Partner Audrey Momanaee, who serves on the board of directors for CFC and is part of Foley’s Pro Bono Committee, and Partner Randall L. Jones, a seasoned real estate attorney, provided pro bono counsel to CFC in the negotiation and drafting of the lease agreement.
“On behalf of the Foley team, we’re so proud to be a part of the Community Family Centers family and to have been able to support in bringing the partnership with Bezos Academy to fruition,” said Momanaee. “Many thanks as well to CFC’s CEO, Maritza Guerrero, and the entire CFC board of directors. We believe wholeheartedly that this will be a wonderful partnership for CFC and the families it supports in the Houston area.”
