Foley Advises The Varsity Collective Charitable Fund, Inc. in Launch of NIL Platform to Connect University of Wisconsin-Madison Student-Athletes
Foley & Lardner LLP advised The Varsity Collective Charitable Fund, Inc. and VC Connect, LLC in launching its new platform, thevarsitycollective.com, which will aid the University of Wisconsin-Madison student-athletes in monetizing their name, image, and likeness (NIL). This builds upon the work of Foley’s NIL Task Force, a multi-disciplinary group of attorneys who are actively engaged in advising various stakeholders through their emergent needs as the regulatory landscape evolves.
Foley worked to establish The Varsity Collective and VC Connect as legal entities, develop tax structures, and will continue to provide advice to The Varsity Collective and VC Connect on general business and operational matters.
The Varsity Collective and VC Connect will serve as a destination for UW-Madison student-athletes to identify NIL opportunities, and for donors, individuals and businesses to pool money to facilitate such deals for UW-Madison athletes. The Varsity Collective will also provide student-athletes important guidance – including mentorships, internships, and life skills – to help them succeed on and off the field.
The Foley team advising The Varsity Collective was led by Partner Paul Wrycha and included Partners Jon Israel, Jason Kohout and Tim Voigtman, Special Counsel Greg Marino, and Associates Jordan Bergmann and Emmaline Jurgena.
