Michael Wall Discusses Massachusetts Esports Betting Landscape

You may soon be able to bet on competitive matches in Massachusetts under new sports betting law,” about the ongoing regulatory discussions surrounding esports betting following the Commonwealth’s passage of a legal sports betting bill.

Wall, who is part of the firm’s sports and entertainment industry team, said regulators in Massachusetts are not alone in grappling with the question of how esports betting fits into the larger sports wagering landscape.

“It’s an unknown phenomenon to a lot of the regulators, I imagine. There is going to be an education process that will be involved. I just think it’s going to take a lot longer for them to come up with regulations to govern esports betting than it will for the traditional sports, so I think it’s going to be really lagging way behind.”
