Ahmad Murrar Recognized with Pro Bono Publico Award by Milwaukee Bar Association
Foley & Lardner LLP Associate Ahmad Murrar has been named a recipient of the Milwaukee Bar Association’s 2022 Pro Bono Publico Award for his outstanding pro bono service and dedication to the practice of the law.
Murrar’s wide-ranging pro bono work includes an asylum trial that won asylum for a Uighur Muslim in immigration court and filing numerous Humanitarian Parole Applications for Afghans fleeing the Taliban. Murrar also represented a prisoner on appeal before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals as part of the representation Foley frequently provides for indigent, incarcerated pro se plaintiffs. Additionally, Murrar assisted in forming a partnership with the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition to help women refugees seek restraining orders and divorce from abusive partners.
Murrar has previously been recognized for his commitment to pro bono work by the State Bar of Wisconsin, being named to its Pro Bono Honor Society every year from 2018 to 2021.
Recipients will be honored at the Milwaukee Bar Association’s annual State of the Court luncheon on October 12.
