Foley’s Robert DuPuy and Bobby Sharma Serve as Contributors to The Sports Business Handbook’s Second Edition
Foley & Lardner LLP is pleased to announce that Sports & Entertainment Partner Robert DuPuy and Special Adviser Bobby Sharma served as contributors to The Sports Business Handbook: Insights from 100+ Leaders Who Shaped 50 Years of the Industry, published this month by Human Kinetic and edited by noted sports business pioneer Rick Horrow.
DuPuy and Sharma, along with over 120 major industry figures, provided essays and contributions discussing the past 50 years of sports business, post-pandemic reflections and the industry’s future. DuPuy’s chapter considers the sports business’ role and resilience amid the pandemic, and Sharma’s discusses the rise of esports.
DuPuy’s practice focuses on representing buyers and sellers in sports franchise sales transactions and restructurings, from stadium construction and rehabilitation financing to media contracts and licensing, syndication, and participation agreements. Prior to rejoining Foley in 2011, DuPuy served as president and COO of Major League Baseball, as well as the initial CEO of MLB Advanced Media and as chairman of its board from its inception in 2001 through 2010.
As a special adviser to Foley’s Sports & Entertainment Group, Sharma provides services to organizations, teams, leagues, and other stakeholders across all professional and amateur sports on a range of subjects, including league development and governance, team sales and acquisitions, media, sponsorship, licensing, data use and privacy, and technology. Previously, he served as a senior vice president, Global Head of Basketball & Strategic Initiatives at IMG, and as a vice president and general counsel of the NBA Development League (now G-League).
The Sports Business Handbook is available now through Human Kinetics and Amazon.
