Kathleen Wegrzyn Named 2022 Wisconsin Legal Innovator for Foley Equipped
The State Bar of Wisconsin named Foley & Lardner LLP Partner Kathleen “Kate” Wegrzyn as a 2022 Wisconsin Legal Innovator Award recipient for her role in developing Foley Equipped, the firm’s document review system powered by customized artificial intelligence (AI) that streamlines the analysis, review, and revision of commercial contracts.
Through the “That’s a Fine Idea: Legal Innovation Wisconsin” initiative, the State Bar recognizes legal professionals who are transforming the profession. Wegrzyn is honored for her innovative approach using AI to create efficiencies and cost savings for clients. The AI utilized in Foley Equipped is trained to identify categories of interest within a contract document and identify high-risk clauses, highlighting provisions that may be outside of commercial norms, and flagging when terms are missing. Depending on the client’s needs, Foley Equipped can be used by in-house counsel or by Foley attorneys to provide a more rapid review process.
