Foley & Lardner LLP recently represented Connect Ventures as lead investor in its $20 million investment in the artificial intelligence (AI) entertainment startup Deep Voodoo. Connect Ventures is an investment partnership between Creative Artists Agency and global venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates.
Deep Voodoo is a leading synthetic media technology platform that has already impacted traditional entertainment. Founded by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of “South Park,” the startup provides proprietary deep fake tools to the industry, using AI to support productions in innovative ways that are faster and more cost-effective than traditional VFX technology.
This is the first outside capital raise by Deep Voodoo. The company plans to use the funding to accelerate the development of its leading deepfake technology, cost-effective visual effects services, and original synthetic media projects. With Connect Ventures’ investment, Deep Voodoo has begun offering its “unrivaled face-swapping visual effects” to artists, producers, and creators across the industry.
The Foley team was led by Partner Louis Lehot and Of Counsel Alidad Vakili and included Associates Stephen Moore and Saige Gallop.
