Foley Adds Former U.S. Senate Senior Advisor and Communications Director to D.C. Office
Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Katie Schoettler, former senior advisor and communications director to U.S. Sen. Steve Daines of Montana, has joined the firm as a public affairs director in its Government Solutions Practice Group. Schoettler will work from Foley’s Washington, D.C. office.
Schoettler comes to Foley with over six years of experience on Capitol Hill with crisis management, strategic communications, and a political skillset honed across both chambers of Congress. In her most recent role as senior advisor and communications director to Sen. Daines, Schoettler served as the lead spokesperson for his office and advised on day-to-day and long-term communications, media engagements, and public policy, helping manage and advance key priorities for the senator.
“While it’s bittersweet to see Katie leave my office, I’m always happy to see my team thrive with new opportunities,” said Sen. Daines. “With her strong work ethic, expert knowledge and a well-rounded outlook to policy, strategy, and communications, Katie will be an important asset to Foley in her new role.”
Prior to joining Sen. Daines’ office, Schoettler worked for the House Natural Resources Committee under former Chairman and U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop of Utah in the communications shop. In that capacity, she served as spokesperson for the committee and chairman and crafted strategic messaging on committee priorities, including energy development, natural resources, and water and infrastructure issues. Before working for Congress, Schoettler was a top aide to a city council member from Jacksonville, Florida.
“We are thrilled to welcome Katie to Foley and our Government Solutions team,” said Edward Burbach, chair of Foley’s Government Solutions Practice Group. “Her experience at the crossroads of communications, policy, and government will be an invaluable resource to our team and clients.”
“Katie is an accomplished, dynamic leader with an impressive track record of experience on Capitol Hill,” said David Sanders, managing partner of Foley’s Washington, D.C. office. “She’s an excellent addition to the team here in D.C. and our national Government Solutions Practice.”
