Foley & Lardner LLP is pleased to announce that Scott Ellis has been named managing partner of the firm’s Houston office, effective May 1, 2023. Ellis currently serves as vice chair of the firm’s Energy Litigation Practice Group and as the hiring partner for the Houston office.
Ellis succeeds partner Michael Rogers, who has held the position in Houston since 2018.
“In his nearly 17 years with Foley, Scott has demonstrated his strong leadership talents through his thriving energy litigation practice, his devotion to mentorship, and his commitment to engaging with the wider Houston community,” said Daljit Doogal, Foley chairman and CEO. “I thank Mike for the strong momentum he has established in the Houston office, and I am confident Scott will have great success in carrying it forward.”
As office managing partner, Ellis will center his efforts on continuing the strategic growth of the Houston office, further enhancing Foley’s reputation in the market, and overseeing the office’s robust dedication to the local business and civic communities.
“It’s a great honor to take the reins from Mike, whose leadership these past five years has made Foley’s Houston office a major hub that’s known not only for our accomplished legal services but for the good we deliver to the wider Houston community,” said Ellis. “Foley’s Houston office is an essential contributor to the firm’s sector-led strategic plan, and as managing partner, I look forward to writing the next chapter in our rich history of serving as trusted advisors to energy and resource companies.”
Located in the energy capital of the world, Foley’s Houston office was established in 1923 and is one of the oldest law firms in the metroplex. With a 100-year history in Houston, Foley is uniquely positioned to serve litigation and transactional clients in the energy industry and beyond.
