Adam Hepworth Named Among Daily Journal’s Top Health Care Lawyers in California
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Adam Hepworth is named a 2023 Top Health Care Lawyer in California by the Daily Journal.
Hepworth is a business lawyer with Foley and member of the firm’s Health Care Practice Group. His practice focuses on Medicaid and Medicare, internal audits and investigations, health privacy laws, and compliance with health care fraud and abuse laws.
He was selected for his advisory work with multiple local government entities to establish integrated care teams that cater to individuals affected by a broad range of intersectional issues on matters of data privacy, compliance and governance structures, and vendor negotiations and process development.
“Many of these local government initiatives raise novel legal issues because they are at the cutting edge of efforts to address the social determinants of health and promote whole-person care,” Hepworth said.
The Daily Journal also highlighted Hepworth’s significant role in a major Foley victory in a California federal court that saw the firm obtain a court order to invalidate provisions of a state plan amendment that imposed substantial Medicaid rate cuts and burdensome pre-authorization requirements.
Looking to the future of health care law, Hepworth told the Daily Journal, “There is an increasing policy focus on addressing the social determinants of health in addition to the more narrow health care needs of patients, which requires coordination between traditional providers and other community members and government agencies.”
“The health care field is still playing catch up in redesigning payment models and delivery systems to align with these ambitious policy goals,” he added.
