Jeffrey Kopp Named 2023 Leader in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Jeffrey Kopp is named among Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s 2023 Leaders in the Law.
Honorees are recognized for setting the standard for other lawyers through their outstanding contributions to the practice of law and the justice system in Michigan, demonstrating tremendous leadership and offering a wealth of experience in diverse areas of the law.
A leading labor and employment counsel and litigator in Foley’s Detroit office, Kopp represents employers in federal and state cases around the country and in traditional labor grievance arbitrations. He focuses on trade secret and noncompete cases, prevailing wage compliance, government contractor employment compliance, and leave and accommodation issues. Kopp also handles employment and commercial litigation matters for automotive clients.
Deeply committed to service, Kopp served a 30-year career in the U.S. Army Reserves, finishing his distinguished tenure with the rank of Colonel. He is the chair of the Pro Bono Committee in Foley’s Detroit office and gives back to his community through involvement in several pro bono legal initiatives.
Since 2008, Kopp has served as a volunteer lawyer for Project Salute, a pro bono initiative of the University of Detroit Mercy Law School. As a volunteer lawyer, Kopp provides free legal advice to low-income veterans on their federal veterans’ disability and pension benefits claims. Kopp also handles pro bono matters on an ongoing basis for indigent clients in the Metro Detroit area serviced by the Detroit Legal Services Clinic, working directly with qualifying clients in a one-on-one relationship that provides internal and external support and representation. Kopp is a former board member of Arkay Incorporated, a Michigan nonprofit organization providing job training and opportunities for individuals with mental health disabilities, as well as a previous president and board member of the Detroit Bar Association Barristers Section.
