Beth Boland Comments on Impending Massachusetts Top Court Vacancies
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Beth Boland is quoted in the Bloomberg Law article, “Vacancies Prime Top Massachusetts Court for Liberal Makeover,” offering insight on Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey’s opportunity to fill impending vacancies on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court following the retirements of two justices.
Boland, who is the former president of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, said that Healey “knows the legal landscape and the judicial landscape probably better than any prior governor that has ever sat.”
She noted that it is possible the governor goes with an “unconventional choice” of a public defender, lawyer in private practice, or an in-house counsel rather than selecting an Appeals Court judge.
