Thomas Ferrante Joins American Telemedicine Association Policy Council
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Thomas (T.J.) Ferrante was selected to serve on the American Telemedicine Association’s (ATA) Policy Council.
Ferrante, who is vice-chair of Foley’s Health Care Practice Group, was selected for his commitment and experience in the industry, both of which will be instrumental in helping ATA’s Policy Council achieve its objectives in charting a path forward on the important policy questions facing the digital health industry. As a member of the council, Ferrante will be at the forefront of addressing the challenges and opportunities in the rapidly evolving landscape of technology-enabled care.
Ferrante is a board-certified health care lawyer and member of Foley’s national Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team. He focuses his practice on telemedicine, digital health, remote patient monitoring and virtual care, as well as a wide range of transactional and related regulatory issues for health care industry clients. Ferrante has considerable experience with creating and implementing telemedicine programs, including issues such as the corporate practice of medicine, interstate medical practices, remote prescribing, reimbursement, self-referral laws, and the anti-kickback statute.
Foley is a corporate member and longtime supporter of ATA. Partner Nathaniel Lacktman, who is chair of the firm’s Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team, is a member of the ATA Board of Directors. In the last year, senior counsel Aaron Maguregui, who is chair of the ATA’s Data Work Group, has helped lead the development of both ATA’s AI Principles and Health Data Privacy Principles.
