Foley Appoints New Office Managing Partners in Salt Lake City and Miami
Foley & Lardner LLP is pleased to announce that Monica Call and Ruben Diaz have been named managing partners of Foley’s Salt Lake City and Miami offices, respectively, effective February 1, 2024.
Call succeeds partner David Wright, whose leadership was instrumental in the opening of Foley’s Salt Lake City office in 2021. Under Wright’s direction, the Salt Lake City office has continued to grow, enhancing the firm’s full-service offerings to clients in the Innovative Technology and Health Care & Life Sciences Sectors.
Diaz succeeds partner Leslie Smith, under whose direction the Miami office has strategically expanded, growing its relationship with the South Florida community and bolstering the firm’s cross-border work throughout Latin America. Smith has served as the Miami office managing partner since 2018 and will retire later this year after more than 16 years with Foley.
“Monica and Ruben embody Foley’s core values,” said Daljit Doogal, Foley chairman and CEO. “Together, their commitment to client service, our people, citizenship, and diversity will guide Foley’s Salt Lake City and Miami presence to an exceptional future built upon the robust foundations laid by their predecessors. I’m confident that Monica and Ruben will serve the firm well in their new roles. We are also extremely grateful to David and Leslie for their years of dedication and commitment to serving the firm.”
As office managing partners, Call and Diaz will focus on strategically growing their respective offices, expanding Foley’s presence in their local markets, and continuing to steward community involvement.
Call is the Litigation Practice Group leader for the Western Region and a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice and its Energy and Health Care & Life Sciences Sectors. Her practice focuses on a wide variety of business litigation disputes, including commercial contracts, business torts, antitrust and unfair competition, intellectual property, securities, professional liability, and corporate governance matters.
“I’m honored to assume this leadership role from David. He has instilled an innovative and client-first culture that is the cornerstone of Foley’s Salt Lake City office, and I know he’ll continue to positively contribute to our clients and our office,” said Call. “Foley is at the forefront of Salt Lake’s legal market, and I’m excited to lead the next chapter of our office and continue the development of our services, our people, and our engagement with the community.”
Diaz is a member of Foley’s Business Law Department and Transactions Practice Group. He has decades of experience advising companies on international transactions, with a particular emphasis on Latin American markets. Diaz’s practice focuses on cross-border investments, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance, international arbitration, and dispute resolution.
“Leslie set a high bar in her tenure as managing partner, and it’s a privilege to take up her mantle,” said Diaz. “I look forward to continuing to enrich the Miami office’s client and community relationships, enhance our presence in the vibrant Miami market, and encourage the successes of the dynamic team Leslie helped build.”
