Foley Honored with 2024 Pro Bono All-Star Award by Her Justice for Immigration Work
Foley & Lardner LLP associates Fatih Mercan, Sabrina Bryan, Ashley Lee, former senior counsel Emma Blumer, law graduate Kate Clendenen, and legal assistants Yili Khamly and Josh Oh were recognized by Her Justice with the Pro Bono All-Star Award as part of the organization’s 2024 Commitment to Justice Awards.
The Pro Bono All-Star Award is presented to individuals whose dedication to their clients reaches far beyond the scope of their pro bono role. The Foley team received the award for its work on behalf of a Her Justice pro bono client in a case brought under the Violence Against Women Act. The Foley team secured permanent residency for the client after years of work, which included a successful appeal to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and numerous responses to Requests for Evidence. Foley continues to assist the client in securing immigration visas for her children.
“Foley has continued to impress in their commitment to and execution of pro bono representation of clients seeking immigration status,” said Timothy Fallon, supervising attorney with Her Justice. “The Foley team didn’t quit when denied, and continue to go above and beyond to serve our client and her family.”
“We’re proud to have worked alongside our Her Justice client for years as she overcame tremendous hardship and ultimately received both her work permit and status as a permanent U.S. resident,” said Mercan. “We applaud Her Justice’s mission of helping women living in poverty in New York City overcome individual and systemic barriers.”
