Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Mark Grundvig has joined the firm’s Antitrust & Competition Practice Group as a partner in its Washington, D.C. office. Grundvig comes to Foley from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), where he served most recently as Assistant Chief in the Washington Criminal II Section of the DOJ’s Antitrust Division.
Grundvig has spent his entire career in public service, nearly 25 years of which has been in the DOJ’s Antitrust Division. As Assistant Chief, Grundvig oversaw investigations and prosecutions of criminal violations of federal antitrust laws, including price-fixing, bid-rigging, customer allocation, and fraud. He provided training, direction, guidance, and approval on investigative plans, litigation strategy, plea resolutions, leniency applications, compliance proposals, and outreach efforts. Grundvig also coordinated with foreign jurisdictions and domestic agencies on case-related matters.
“Mark’s extensive experience handling antitrust investigations and prosecutions at the DOJ enhances our ability to help clients navigate the constantly changing antitrust enforcement landscape,” said Elizabeth Haas, chair of Foley’s Antitrust & Competition Practice Group. “His arrival immediately deepens our antitrust bench strength and the services we provide to our clients. We are delighted to welcome Mark to the firm.”
Before his tenure as Assistant Chief in two different criminal offices with the Antitrust Division, Grundvig served for nearly 10 years as a senior trial attorney with the Antitrust Division, leading several of the largest criminal antitrust investigations handled by the DOJ. In that capacity, he conducted criminal antitrust investigations and prosecuted cases involving bribery, fraud, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Grundvig served as lead counsel on a broad range of cases spanning various industries and sectors, including manufacturing, health care, real estate, and maritime.
“Foley’s national platform, sector-aligned focus, and impressive roster of antitrust litigators attracted me as I looked to take the next step in my career,” said Grundvig. “I am excited to join Foley and look forward to working with my new colleagues to guide clients through the evolving challenges of today’s antitrust environment.”
