Scott Ellis Comments on Big Law Recruiting Ramp Up – 'Right out of the box, you’re looking at them as new hires'
22 April 2024
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Scott Ellis offers insight on the rise of early recruitment by major law firms and its impact on law students in the Bloomberg Law article, “Big Law Skips Ahead of On-Campus Recruiting in Talent Race.”
While on-campus interviews have dominated as the chief recruiting method for major firms in the past, the hiring process now begins earlier, with summer associate roles becoming a customary path to positions at major firms.
“You don’t give the law students as much time to figure out what law school is all about,” said Scott Ellis, who is the managing partner of Foley’s Houston office and served as the office’s hiring partner for the last decade. “Right out of the box, you’re looking at them as new hires.”
